This past weekend has been the NAIA World Series here in Lewiston. On Thursday the teams go to all of the elementary schools to interact with the kids. The Sterling Warriors from Kansas visited Beacon. While the bbq lunch was being prepared the PreK-third graders got to play baseball. It was so much fun!
Brenna and Etta waiting to bat. |
Mae was a HAM! She is so funny anyway and was in fine form this day. All of the ball players loved her and were high-fiving her and helping her out. While Etta is shy and introverted Mae is absolutely not. I am not good enough with words to describe just how funny she was being. She was also a natural at baseball and did better than most of the bigger kids. When it was time to eat the entire school got lined up by grade. They allowed the ball players to go first. Mae attached herself to the crew and jaunted in like she was part of the team.
After a hit, heading to first base. She was was doing a high step run which one of the ball players commented that looked like she was having to climb over each grass blade. |
She didn't find it necessary to stay on the baseline was was kind of running around sporadically. |
She took the long way but made it to third base. |
Running home. |
Excited to be back in the batting line up. |
Then it was Etta's turn at bat. |
Swing and a miss! |
On her third try she smacked a good hit. Unfortunately it was a pop fly and the pitcher caught it in his hat. [Note her right leg action. We may need to work on that a bit.] |
